Spring is upon us – which means that warmer weather, longer nights and the most popular time of the year to hold a wedding also draws nearer! There’s something truly special about a summer wedding; and though all the planning can leave those involved feeling a little less than sunny, investing in the correct Wedding Insurance will alleviate some of the stress that can arise.

Read on to find out what wedding insurance covers, and how it can help enhance your special day.

What Exactly Is Wedding Insurance – and Why Do I Need It?

Wedding insurance doesn’t only safeguard your big day in the event of certain scenarios (illness, for instance), protecting you against financial losses, but also provides valuable comfort during a time when emotions are already running high. Ultimately, no matter how much time the marrying couple and their loved ones spend planning the day to perfection, it’s impossible to predict – or prevent – unforeseen events, and wedding insurance brings great peace of mind. Your policy will cover the ceremony and the wedding reception, protecting you against circumstances not catered for by other types of policies.

Only a robust, specialist wedding insurance policy provides the cover you will need: and Cherry Godfrey are here to ensure your dream wedding goes off without a hitch. Do contact our expert team or submit a callback request – we’re looking forward to hearing about all the plans for your celebration!

Wedding Insurance: What’s Covered

First of all, many couples are pleased to hear that you can take your policy out in advance – essential if you’re spending lots of time planning! Cover can be arranged up to two years before your wedding, and generally ceases 24 hours following your reception (note that some covers are in force at different times during the wedding – check your policy wording for more information). As mentioned, both your ceremony and reception will be covered, and the majority of global locations (excluding the USA and Canada); so it’s a great option for a destination wedding!

As standard, the following should be covered:

·         Cancellation/rearrangement of the wedding and/or reception, for unavoidable reasons (if the venue was damaged due to a flood, for instance). In the event of a cancellation, any deposits or up-front payments would be covered. In the event of a rearrangement, the policy would cover not only the amounts already paid for the original, planned wedding, but also the cost of moving to another venue (even if the new venue would be more expensive).

·         Financial failure of wedding service suppliers. Your policy should cover you in the event that your chosen suppliers go out of business (hence being unable to provide services/goods for which they’ve been contracted).

·         Wedding gifts.

·         Wedding rings, flowers, attendants’ gifts and the wedding cake.

·         Wedding cars and transport.

·         Photography and video.

·         Ceremonial attire.

·         Personal accident (loss of sight, limbs, or permanent disablement).

·         Essential document indemnity (overseas weddings only).

·         Legal expenses.

·         Public liability for the marrying couple (in respect of their legal liability arising from

accidental injury to third parties or accidental loss of/damage to third party property).

·         Professional counselling (in the event of the wedding being cancelled due to either party deciding not to go through with the wedding, or the death of either spouse-to-be).

·         Additional cover. There is also the option add additional cover to your policy (such as ceremonial swords cover or an equipment extension to cover things like marquees or mobile W.C. units).
