Hi Simon! Could you please tell us a little bit about your professional background and what brought you to Cherry Godfrey?
I have been in corporate finance for the past twenty-eight years and really liked the idea of joining a locally run family business with great family ethics.
Family is at the heart of what we do. It’s great to have you onboard! What was your first job, and can you tell us something that you learned from it?
My first job was as a labourer for a welding firm in the UK: I learnt the importance of teamwork, and that hard work really does pay off.
Teamwork and hard work; the killer combo! In your opinion, what makes someone a great leader?
Being able to listen, someone who shows respect, empathy, integrity and empowers others: someone who shows that they care and can lead by example. And finally, someone who goes to the bar first 😊!

I’ll name two: the teamwork and the morale.
Fantastic. What are the daily habits help you succeed?
Ensuring that I get enough sleep, PMA (Positive mental attitude) and humour.
If you were able to invite any three people round for dinner (living or dead), who would you choose – and why?
My Dad – he was my hero and best friend. My wife, Helen, for putting up with me for the past thirty-eight years and my daughter, Abbie, for making me so proud every day.
That’s lovely. And, finally, what do you enjoy doing when you are not working?
Socialising, holidaying with my family, playing golf, and I am a huge Liverpool supporter.
