Name: Chris Pearce

Company Role: Commercial Broker

Hi Chris, thanks for answering some questions for us today. Let’s start with an easy one, what’s your favourite quote or saying?

“Every day is a school day.”

A classic that’s always important to remember. So, could you tell us about your background, and what brought you to work with Cherry Godfrey?

After decades of broking in the insurance industry and working for national brokers, I fancied a change from the corporate, impersonal and restrictive approach that is increasingly becoming the norm from the big players. After talking with Kelly Burke at an Isle of Wight networking event, I liked all I heard about life at Cherry Godfrey, and I just wanted in.

And can you name one thing you now love about working at Cherry Godfrey?

The team - what a great bunch to work with on a daily basis!

That’s so great to hear. So, what was your very first job, and what did you learn from it?

My first role was as a print compositor for a printing firm. I learned that if I made a very bad cup of tea, no-one would ask me to make one ever again.

Remind us not to ask you to make us a tea! What do you think makes someone a great leader?

The ability to lead by way of example, coupled with good communication and team building skills.

Do you have any daily habits that help you succeed?

Keeping a “to do” list to keep me on track.

Something more personal, if you were able to invite any three people round for dinner (living or dead), who would you choose – and why?

David Attenborough – Aside from being one of this century’s greatest naturalists, I find his voice relaxing.

Professor Bryan Cox – I like to indulge my inner Cosmology nerdiness.

Jimi Hendrix – I’d like to jam with him after dinner.

What an evening! And, finally, what do you enjoy doing when you’re not working?

Having just moved into our forever home, gardening seems to be my life at the moment, but I also play guitar and sing. I enjoy going for a long walk in the early morning, rides on my motorbike and photography.

What a creative and varied life. Congratulations on the new home and thank you for all your answers.

No problem.
